Benjamin Levy

Benjamin Levy was born March 8, 1955. He was one of ten children born to Eula (Levy) Harris. His father was Oscar Lassiter. Ben’s mother, father. Two sisters and four brothers preceded him in death.

Ben professed faith in Christ at an early age, attending church with his family. He was a graduate of Calumet High School in Chicago, Illinois.

Soon after graduation he joined the Army (1975). Benjamin was promoted to the rank of Staff Sergeant (E-6). During his military career, he traveled widely and learned to speak several languages including Dutch and Spanish. He was honorably discharged and retired from the Army with decoration in 1987.

Until 1994 when he retired, Ben was a police officer for the United States Department of Veterans’ Affairs. He was also a Free Mason from 2011 until his transition.

Ben was a very thoughtful, considerate and kind individual with a great sense of humor. He was well loved by family and friends.

He leaves to celebrate his transition, one daughter Nevaeh Levy, one son of his heart Noah, three sisters Minnie (Bobie Sr.) Knight, Elvoria Harris and Cynthia Levy, beloved brother-in-law Bobie L. Knight, Sr. and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
