David Wilson Adams, (73), of Las Vegas, Nevada, passed away on December 28, 2024, in Henderson, from cancer.
Dave was born in Detroit, Michigan to David W. Adams, Sr., and Janice (Wilson) Adams on October 20, 1951.
Dave grew up in Michigan before moving to California and later to Nevada. Dave had careers in sales and long-haul trucking. After retirement, he was so loved as a crossing guard for a local elementary school that kids and their families regularly brought him gifts and treats. His absolute favorite role in life, however, was as a loving grandfather who would do anything for his grandchildren, often being the giver of their most prized gifts at Christmastime. This was true even this year, just days before he passed.
Dave is preceded in death by his sister, Donna J. Simmons.
Dave is survived by wife Sylvia Adams; son Justin (and wife Sonnet) Adams and daughter Marie Adams; siblings Lawrence M. Adams and Patricia K. Shirah; Grandchildren Tyler Adams, Hayden Douglas, Seth Douglas, Riley Adams, Sawyer Adams, and Elyse Adams; Great-Grandchild Grayson Douglas, and his beloved dog, Lucky.
It may not surprise those who knew him that Dave passed on his own terms, just as he lived. He chose to spend his final days at home surrounded by his family, and for this time together, we are incredibly thankful. A special thank you to his sister, Patti, Shirah for being here during his final days, providing support and assistance to our family. Dave did not want a funeral service.
Dave’s family wishes to extend our sincere thanks to the nurses, chaplain, and care providers of Nathan Adelson Hospice who helped him (and all of us) through his final days.
