Della "Darby" Orange, 86, of Las Vegas, NV, passed away peacefully on December 6, 2024, in Las Vegas.
Darby was born to John and Helen Comer in Atchison, Kansas, on April 22, 1938. She graduated from Mt. St. Clair High School in 1958 and later pursued further education at Northwest Missouri State University.
After leaving the Midwest and relocating to Las Vegas, Darby found her passion in the gaming industry. She began her career as a poker dealer and went on to open multiple poker rooms across the country. She was instrumental in the establishment of the World Series of Poker, a legacy that highlights her pioneering contributions to the field. Darby spent over 30 years as a secretary and personal assistant at Hollomore Music, working closely with Tommy DeVito of Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons (later known as the "Jersey Boys").
Darby was preceded in death by her parents, John and Helen Comer; her sister, Melba Fitzgerald Brown; her grandson, Jason Sigmundi; and her granddaughter, Kiyoka Pruitt. She was also predeceased by her son-in-law, James R. Smith, and daughter-in-law, Julie Sigmundi.
