Edwin Allen Fortin, 88, of N. Las Vegas, passed away on 3/14/2025 in Las Vegas.

Edwin was born in Hammond, Indiana to Levern and Agnes Fortin on 7/19/1936.

Edwin, Class of 1954 Whiting High School, lettered in Cross-Country, Baseball, and Basketball. He was popular, with nearly every page of his yearbook covered in signatures and notes from those that knew and loved him. Always looking for new opportunities, he ran three radio stations in Michigan, was a sports announcer at baseball games and stock car races, tried out as a 3rd baseman walk-on for the Chicago White Sox, ran a newspaper in Florida, and worked at GTE Yellow Pages for 20 years retiring as a regional sales manager in California. He took job relocations to Minnesota, Texas, and California, eventually retiring to Las Vegas. His favorite moment was living long enough to watch his beloved Chicago Cubs win the pennant and eventually the World Series in 2016. In his "retirement", Edwin sold homes in Pahrump and designed swimming pools for some of the rich and famous in Las Vegas. Then came the singing. Eddie The Hat, performed at casino nightclubs across Las Vegas singing covers of famous 60's idols like Sinatra. He even recorded a full CD at a recording studio to give out to his fans at appearances. Edwin was a devout church-goer and donated to St. Jude's Children's Hospital.

Edwin is preceded in death by Joan Louise Fortin, his wife of 62 years (April 12th, 1958).

Edwin is survived by sons: Kevin, Michael, & Kyle (and his wife Anna), brothers: Charles & Thomas, grandchildren: Nolan, Adam, & Monika, and great-grandchild: Josephine.
