Gary Michael Stanco, 76, passed away peacefully on January 12, 2024 at his home, surrounded by loved ones, in Las Vegas, Nevada after a long battle with cancer.
Gary was born in Schenectady, New York to Michael and Lillian Stanco on June 17, 1947. Following his graduation from Niskayuna High School, he earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Boston University in 1970. He then continued his family’s legacy, designing and constructing upscale custom homes in the upstate New York region, for many years. Following his relocation to Las Vegas in 1995, he founded a successful mortgage brokerage firm and was involved in several other business ventures prior to his retirement.
In his youth, he excelled in baseball, playing for both Niskayuna High School and later Boston University. He enjoyed sports, especially rooting for the New York Giants, New York Yankees, and San Francisco Giants. He loved traveling, playing softball, pickle ball, and collecting Corvettes.
Gary was preceded in death by his parents; Michael and Lillian Stanco, his beloved aunts; Carmella, Elvira and Beatrice Stanco, as well as his wife, Pamela DiLorenzo Stanco.
Gary is survived by his beloved wife of almost 40 years, Judi Stanco and his three children, Jason (Maria) Stanco of Niskayuna, NY, Jessica (John) Gaffney of Winter Garden, Florida, and Rhea (Sal) McNamara of Las Vegas, NV. He was the cherished "Papa" to his grandchildren, Michael Stanco, Jadelyn McNamara, Katerina Stanco, Micaela McNamara, Anne Gaffney, and Claire Gaffney. Also, surviving are his brother Robert Stanco and sister Noreen Jones of New York.
A celebration of life in New York is being planned for this summer, around his birthday, with details to follow.
Gary's family wishes to extend our sincerest gratitude to Dr. Rupesh Parikh at Comprehensive Cancer Center and all the amazing staff at CompassionCare Hospice for caring for Gary.
