Joan Louise Fortin

Joan Louise Fortin (née Hroma) of North Las Vegas passed away on 2/18/2021 in Las Vegas at the age of 83.

Joan was born in Chicago on 5/11/1937 to Teresa J. and Michael G. Hroma of Chesterton, IN.

The eldest of four children, Joan graduated from Chesterton High School (class of 1955), where she studied Spanish and played basketball and softball. She began her career as a stenographer at Standard Oil in Chicago, and later in life was the Administrative Assistant for a shopping mall in St. Petersburg, FL. She married the love of her life and husband of 62 years Edwin Allen Fortin of Whiting, IN, on 4/12/1958.

A talented artist, Joan enjoyed home decorating, baking, gardening, swimming, and reading.

Joan was preceded in death by her parents. Her younger brother Robert M. Hroma passed away later in 2021. Her husband Edwin followed her into the afterlife on 3/14/2025.

Joan is survived by three sons: Kevin, Michael, & Kyle (and his wife Anna),
her sister Andrea Coombs, her brother Jeffrey J. Hroma,
grandchildren: Nolan, Adam, & Monika, and
great-grandchild: Josephine
