Nancy Clare Dunsworth

March 19, 1941 — November 3, 2023

Nancy Clare Porter Dunsworth, beloved family member, died in her home in Las Vegas on November 3, 2023 following an extended illness. She was born on March 19, 1941 in Corning, Iowa, the second of eleven children born to Harry Louis Porter and Alice Faye Anstey Porter. She attended school in Atlantic, IA. before graduating from Mount Loretto High School in Council Bluffs, IA. She attended St. Mary's College in Omaha, NE., where she studied teaching and played on the basketball team. After marrying, she resided in Omaha, NE. In 1976, Nancy moved to Las Vegas with her four young children. She worked at the MGM Grand Hotel until the birth of her daughter, Donaka in 1981. Donaka's disabilities required 24-hour care so Nancy left her job to give Donaka the loving care she believed her daughter deserved. Nancy continued to care for Donaka throughout most of Donaka's 42 years. A few months after Donaka's Death, Nancy's own death followed.  Nancy faced many challenges in her life with compassion, determination and bravery. She took comfort and support from her devout Christian faith and loved attending church services and bible studies. She enjoyed softball, traveling, camping and visiting family members until Donaka's growing disabilities made those activities no longer possible. She loved to tell funny stories, laugh, sing and bake pies. She was a caring person, who encouraged family members to pursue their dreams. She was also humble and unassuming and appreciated the simple pleasures she found in life. She is survived by her four children, Dennis Michael Hydock, Stephen Franklin Hydock, Denise Michelle Hydock, and Cynthia Jean Hydock Brust; sisters Fran Porter (Steve Walter), Miriam Porter (Ralph Bailey), Amy Porter (Gregg Johnson), and Marta Porter Arch (Rick Arch) and brothers, Steve Porter (Tammi Guzowski) and Jan Porter (Gail Anderson); grandchildren Aaron Hydock, Daniel Hydock, Jacqueline Hydock, Jonathan Hydock, Saraya Hydock, Korie Brust Mcquaite, Emily Brust-Rodrequez, and Jon Westly Wright Jr.; seven great- grandchilden, neices, nephews, cousins, and one aunt. Her friend, Angela Fan, was ever ready to lend a helping hand. She was preceded in death by daughter Donaka, her parents, sisters Jeanne Porter, Elizabeth Porter Sheehan (Richard Sheehan), Margaret Porter Gray (Melvin Gray) and brother, Paul Porter (Delores Eckhardt); grandson Joshua Sword; nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles. We remember Nancy on March 19, which would have been her 83rd birthday and the first time her birthday has come without her among us. We celebrate the beautiful gift she was to her family.
