Patricia “Pat” Ann Vadnais, 75 of Laughlin NV, passed away during surgery after a sudden illness on June 13, 2024, at Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center in Las Vegas, NV. Pat was born October 26, 1948, in Decatur, Illinois to James “Tex” Lawhorn and Patricia (Swain) Lawhorn. As a teenager, Pat’s family moved to southern California where she quickly fell in love with the peaceful freedom of the desert. She was a hairdresser by trade but mostly enjoyed being a wife, mother, and grandmother. Pat married Ed on November 10, 1979, in Las Vegas, Nevada and they resided in Lancaster, California for many years. They later relocated to Laughlin, Nevada in 2017. Theirs was a love story for the books. They were completely devoted to each and shared a love like not many get to share. During their years together they enjoyed bowling, golfing, and hitting the casinos in Vegas and Laughlin from time to time. But mostly loved spending time with family.
Full of love, laughter, and resilience, she touched the lives of all who knew her. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, she was always there when we needed her the most, offering support, wisdom, and love in abundance.
Pat’s children and grandchildren were the light of her life, and she cherished her time spent with them. She loved, supported, cheered on, and laughed with each of them every chance she got. She truly enjoyed caring for her family. She made sure lots of laughter and memories were made.
Pat was also an amazing cook, seamstress, crafter, “domestic engineer” and the Queen of Keno. Some that had the privilege of being in her presence might even say “When I visit Pat, I am well loved, well cared for and well fed!” Pat was full of life and always fun to be around. She loved her people hard and will be greatly missed. Pat’s family asks that she be remembered for the joy she brought to others in life not the sadness of her passing.
Pat is survived by her husband and love of her life, Edward “Ed” Vadnais Jr., brother Milton “Milt” Lawhorn (Jody), daughter Tammy Severson; sons, James Lave (Chris) and Edward “Ed” Vadnais III (Kimberly); granddaughters, Tiffany Garrison, Samantha Vadnais, and Shelby Vadnais; grandsons, Edward “Eddie” Vadnais IV, and Sean Vadnais; great grandchildren Bella Mangione, Logan Zimmer and many loving nieces, nephews and cousins along with countless friends who felt her warmth and kindness.
She was preceded in death by her loving parents, brothers James Lawhorn, Richard Lawhorn, Terry Lawhorn, and grandson James “JJ” Mangione.
To commemorate her beautiful journey and to celebrate the love she spread, a Celebration of Life will be held in her honor at 1603 Paloma Ave. Laughlin, NV 89029 on Friday July 26, 2024. The celebration will begin at 4:00 pm and food and refreshments will be provided. We invite all who knew her to join us in remembering a truly remarkable woman.
