Penelope "Penny" Mahan, 86, of Boulder City, Nevada, passed away on October 10, 2023 at home surrounded by her loved ones.
Penelope was born on April 21, 1937 in California and had a noteworthy educational career, having been Valedictorian of her senior class at Claremont Girls Collegiate High School. She was among the first female students to attend Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, later taking on roles at Winchell's donut, floral decor, and the Gold Strike in Boulder City, NV. After a decade, she began working as a crossing guard at the local school before retiring. Penny was a beloved mother, friend, and animal lover. She was well-known for her love of Art in the Park in Downtown Boulder City, as well as dining at The Coffee Cup for brunch. She was often seen admiring the big horn sheep grazing in the local park. Despite going through a divorce, she lived a quiet and humble life that she was always proud of. She is remembered with great fondness and will be dearly missed.
Penelope is survived by her three sons, Randall, Derek, and Kevin Mahan; Penelope was preceded in death by her mother, Rowena Huffman Whitmore; her aunt, Dorothy Louise Huffman Warner.
