Philomena Simbahon Linogon

October 15, 1929 — December 26, 2020

Philomena Simbahon Linogon, 91 years young, of Las Vegas NV previously from Honolulu Hawaii, passed away peacefully on Saturday December 26, 2020 in Las Vegas. Mom was born in Pau’uilo on the Big Island of Hawaii to Felicidad and Ricardo Simbahon on October 15, 1929. She attended Hilo Elementary, Middle and High School. Mom was the eldest of eight children, blessed with five sisters and two brothers. Mom moved to Oahu after graduating from high school where she met Frank Sr. and were married in February of 1952. They had twelve children and settled in Aliamanu located in Honolulu Hawaii. Mom was very active in scouting as the Den Mother of several Cub Scout and Boy Scout troops, team mom of every baseball team that Dad coached and did a lot of fundraising at the baseball park. She may have been known to have sold the best tasting frozen ice cups. She worked at Holy Family Catholic Church and School where she laundered and ironed the priest’s and the nun’s vestments. She and dad would take us to the nun’s home to clean their yard and house on the weekends. She was very talented in sewing our uniform shirts, khaki pants and plaid skirts for attending catholic school; even so she sewed us matching Hawaiian aloha shirts and dresses for picture taking day every year, all by her own knowledge of patterns. She was a hard worker and a kind and gentle soul. She also worked a part-time job in the crack seed department at Wigwam Store near Aiea Bowling Alley. Then for 20 years, she worked for an escrow company Title Guaranty Hawaii, as a typist, office clerk and promoted to the floor Supervisor. For one of her accounts she was fortunate to learn the Hawaiian language so she could interpret documents written in Hawaiian. One would say she was the “Jane of all trades”. After retiring, Mom moved to Las Vegas NV in 2000, to live with her daughters. She attended the Martin Luther King Jr. Senior Center in North Las Vegas. She enjoyed socializing with the ladies of the Red Hat group and mingling with her many friends at the center. She traveled with her senior friends to see the sights in Utah, California and Arizona. She kept herself busy and always attended the latest and greatest movies with her close friend Teresa. Mom attended the center faithfully until the center shut down for renovations before the pandemic. Mom is preceded in death by her late husband Frank Francisco Sr., sons Darrell, Robert and Frank Jr, granddaughter Darla, sisters Aurelia, Fely and Shirley, and her mother Felicidad and father Ricardo. Mom is survived by her daughters Barbara (Ron), Rosita (Don), Diane, Lorelei (John), Phyllis, Iris (Guy), Ann (Dean) and Carol (John), son Terry, sisters Lucille and Bertha, brothers Pidong and Joseph, 27 grandchildren, 43 great grandchildren, 4 great-great grandchildren.

No Services will be held in Las Vegas, Nevada.
