Las Vegas

Hello Family and Friends,

We gather here today to honor and celebrate the life of a truly remarkable woman—my stepmother, Susan LaPlante Louis-Jacques. While our hearts are heavy with sorrow, I invite you to take a moment to reflect on the incredible impact she had on all of us.

I have been blessed to have Susan in my life since my teenage years. From the very beginning, she embraced me and my brother as her own, and her love has been a steady stream for us ever since.

Susan always made me feel welcome. Having my favorite things to eat in her fridge. Making the holidays extra special with decorations and hot chocolate. On her wedding day to my dad, Telling me to go ahead and smoke in front of them because she never wanted me to hide myself away. Susan taught me how to drink coffee when I went away to college. She washed my clothes, no matter how much I brought to her and my dad. She Did my grocery shopping and was always so thoughtful. I will always remember and cherish those special times when I lived close.

Susan was Always telling me to be exactly who I am and she always had the best advice. The last thing she ever told me was to be exactly who I am. To keep shining bright. That I am worthy and deserving just as I am.

I miss her.

Susan was Born on February 5, 1962, in Ogdensburg, NY, Susan was the cherished daughter of Frederick and Theresa LaPlante. She graduated from Watertown High School in 1980 and went on to work in retail where she met the love of her life, Charles. She fulfilled a dream of becoming a paralegal in the Albany area, showcasing her intelligence and dedication.

In 2011, she made a new life for herself with my dad in Las Vegas, where she continued to shine until her unexpected passing on March 5, 2025.

Susan was a woman of boundless love and warmth. Her extraordinary capacity to embrace those around her made everyone feel special and valued. She was more than just my stepmother; she was a confidante, a mentor, and a true friend. Her love extended beyond our immediate family, enveloping everyone she encountered. Whether you were her husband, Charles, her stepchildren, Carlo, me (Alex) and Marisol or her cherished grandchildren, Florian and Myah, you knew you were deeply loved.

Susan had a unique gift for making every moment special. She found joy in the simplest things—a shared meal, a heartfelt conversation, or a spontaneous laugh. Her home was a sanctuary filled with love, laughter, and countless memories. With her, even ordinary days felt extraordinary.

Her love knew no bounds, and it was evident in the way she loved us, her family, as well as in the way she cherished being “Grandma Susan.” She was a source of strength for all of us—a woman who listened without judgment, offered advice without hesitation, and showered us with unconditional love.

Though Susan's departure from this world was sudden and unexpected, we can find comfort in knowing that her spirit lives on in each of us. Her love has woven itself into the fabric of our lives, guiding us as we navigate our days without her. We carry her memory in our hearts and strive to honor her legacy by loving one another as fiercely as she loved us.

As we say our goodbyes today, let us remember Susan for the beautiful soul she was. Let us celebrate the love she gave so freely, the joy she brought to our lives, and the lessons she imparted. In our grief, let us also find gratitude for the time we shared with her and for the love that will never fade.

Susan leaves behind not only her husband, Charles, and her stepchildren, Carlo, Alexandra & Marisol but also her beloved grandchildren, Florian and Myah, who were the lights of her life. She is survived by her sister Sandra, her brothers George and Jim, and numerous nieces and nephews who will carry her memory forward. She was predeceased by her sister Deborah and brother-in-law Larry.

Thank you, Susan, for being you. You will be missed deeply, but never forgotten. Your love will continue to shine brightly in our hearts. We love you. Rest in peace.
